I feel bad for my lack of submitting so I figured why not post this doodle thing :3
Riza and her mom, Emily and Roy and his mom, Liang
Emily's a patient, gentle woman who can be a bit energetic and always willing to try new things. As a teenager she was overwhelmed by her higher lifestyle and wanted to live a simple life, and she often clashed with her parents, especially Grumman, because of it.
Liang worked at a spa with her family in Xing until she fell in love with Roy's dad and came back to Amestris to work in his flower shop with him. She's a naturally irritable person as well as stubborn. She can be quite serious and she's always hardworking. But she's a very protective and trusting person.
In mine and *Toasty-Coconut's HC Roy is half Xingese, so we made his mom be from Xing. Roy's grandfather owned a flower shop and Roy's dad went to Xing to get some exotic plants for it, and that's where he met his mom and yeah they fell in love and she eventually came back to Amestris with him :3 They'll run the flower shop together, but then they get into a car accident when Roy's 5 and that's when Chris Mustang takes him in.
Riza's parents story is rather sad, I imagine Emily was a good mother and all and Berthold a pretty good (yet still awkward) father, but then when she dies Berthold just can't pick himself up again and becomes obsessed with his research to fill some sort of void and begins to unintentionally neglect Riza. It's stated that Riza's parents were both estranged from their families, so we made them run away from their homes once Emily gets pregnant with Riza after some other conflicting stuff happens with their parents. Actually Emily's conflict with Grumman and her running away and eventually dying is a key factor in why Roy and Riza are allowed to be married in our HC, I'll explain that all another day though XD
... Roy's always the gentleman, throwing up on the ladies.
